So if your on the internet you have probably heard of minecraft, even if you don't know what it is. Minecraft is basically an adventure game, you appear in a huge (it would take thousands of hours to reach the edge of the world) completely randomly generated world made up of blocks. From there you can mine stone/ore, cut trees, dig dirt and from that shape the land into whatever you want. Some people even recreate crazy things out of stone, like the enterprise from star trek. Me? I fill a lake with leaves and set it on fire. It has both single player and multiplayer as well. Here's a pic of a random minecraft town that I was working on. You can find it at http://minecraft.net. The game itself costs 15 euros right now (it will got up to 20 when the beta is over) but it doesn't have any sort of monthly subscription, your basically buying the complete version of the game in the future. Right now it is basically an early demo, so a lot of the gameplay features are still under development. Despite being a demo, it is already extremely addicting if you like being creative =p They have a free version on the site, but it doesn't come close to the current paid version.

Well, You did get all the updates for free if you brought the game in Alpha Stage, but now the game is in Beta and the license has changed.
With the new license, you still get the final game (and all updates leading up to it) for free. But after that, you might have to pay for expansion packs.

Not really, buying an entire game for less than the cost of a retail game isn't a rip off.

Most normal games make you pay for expansion packs/dlc. Why put extra work into a finished game if your not getting money for it.

I'm going to be running an unnoffical minecraft server for the GFF, it wont be dedicated or anything so it wont be on all the time. It will also lag with more than a couple people, until notch adds multicore support. Anyway, just ask me for the server ip if you want to play on it. Server info: My server is currently using 2 mods, the hey0 server mod and the craftbook server mod. hey0 will let you guys use a couple commands, most importantly you can type /tp [username] to teleport to somebody or /spawn to go the spawn and you can type /item [item id] to spawn almost any item. In addition, craftbook does a few different things which i have enabled: destroying leaves has a 1% chance of dropping an apple special bridges special doors gates elevators im pretty sure i have this enabled, hidden switches redstone pumpkin control redstone netherrack control some really cool minecart control stuff only part missing is the gravel block edit: this info is very out of date
