Hey! I'm a Music Producer, and I've been interested in PT for quite a long time, I've played two or three versions of the game and I've been following the forum for more news and updates. I decided to register to see everything without limitations, such as links and stuff, but also because of the Game. (I understand that the Game has an Online Feature). I have been trying to make one in Game Maker but it's useless, since I only can make some s***ty maps, and make my character move and that kind of stuff... So, I F-ing love all the Pokemon Games, I've played'em all (Emulated and borrowed) and I Have Pokemon Black, on My 3DS, and when I saw the comunity here, I wanted to give you guys something. I have tried to make a Song for your Game, it's a short thing that you can "Repeat" all over, when the character is in a Cave. I also happen to have a WAV Version, with better sounding instruments, but I figured it would be better to give you the MIDI file, first, and then, If you guys want my collab, I could Produce some Original Songs for PT. So, here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/?az3s16wlubqmvrc Hope you enjoy, and if you want more, (or use this one) I won't mind^^, Eheh And If you want to give Credit, it's "The Insomnia Project", My Production ALIAS. ;) Sorry for any mispelling, I'm not American/English. :P Thank you for your time ;) --------------------------------------------------- EDIT: Here, my newest attempts, in MP3... MIDI sounded too lame, but I tried not to make it too "Realistic" because it's for a Game... :) http://www.4shared.com/mp3/b_1LyFYI/file.html http://www.4shared.com/mp3/ABwYQIvx/file.html ---------------------------------------------- EDIT 2: Hey guys, just made another one, this one for a Wild Battle... I think I'm getting used to MIDI, now... Check it out, tell me what you think ;) Here's the link: http://www.4shared.com/music/DCiSS29x/file.html thank you for your time ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT 3: Soooo... You guys wanted other host, here's Mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/?byt1tavob2scy15 http://www.mediafire.com/?xfn3551c1zg76qi http://www.mediafire.com/?r34gaaqwcs7lo9j Tell me what you think ;) -------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT 4: Hey! What's up, peepz? I just made a new song, if you want to check it, it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?b11bqwndja1ocfj Tell me what you think ;) Thanks -------------------------------------------- EDIT 5: Hey guys, I've improved my song-making skills, made 4 new songs! Check them out here: http://www.mediafire.com/?3tla9c9wd94p4u2 http://www.mediafire.com/?brxxugnql2gqjb2 http://www.mediafire.com/?t0kr21ky40ybgdf & http://www.mediafire.com/?8q8duz4ohl33c2a Now tell me what you think! I like mostly the calm one and the Dept.Store (The last one I made xD) Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- what up, people?! Actually it isn't needed :P Take Farlgrove Town and Pallet Town for example, both songs were written/remixed by Game Fortress. Additionally, I make other songs for PT that might go in v5.5 and I also do SFX now. Anyway, about your song: It is rather repetitive and the instruments you used make it sound like it comes from a GB game. All songs in PT ARE in fact midis, and not wavs with edited sounds, so you'll have to learn what instruments to use. It is somewhat unstructered too, and I'll try to explain it this way: Take Pallet Town for example. It starts with a main theme, after which comes a second theme. Then it goes all the way back to the beginning. You could see this as ABABABABAB... Your song is more ABCDEAFF and it's this what makes it repetitive and unstructered. The double FF makes it somewhat repetitive and the chords are always the same too. Adding or leaving an instrument out doesn't make it a different theme.

Um... I do have to agree with TwilightDusk that it is repetitive BUT here are some recomendations! :D - Make a Melody!!! -you had chimes or the bells but they came in periodically but for a quick moment... use them to make a melody! - There might have been dynamics, but make them really pop out! -like quiet the background to make the periodically incoming and outgoing instrument come out better... * If you make anymore songs please post them! :D

Hey, thank you guys, for taking your time to take a listen to the track. And I'm glad some of you liked it. As for TwilightDusk, about that part "It's from a GBA Game", the reason for that, is: I wanted it to sound like a GB game! :P I could make a more professional song, with better sounding instruments, (AS I SAID, I have the Wav file, because I only rendered it to MIDI to SOUND like a GB game...) :P So, it was, indeed, intentional... :P Secondly, the "Repetitive" part of your critic, yes, I admit it, it is repetitive, but that's why It's meant for a cave, not for a Town, you're not suposed to be much time on a cave, so, the song shouldn't be giant,, and there's no need to make it so complex, because no one listens to it, anyway, it's just to make you feel dizzy, when you're in it... So, that was intentional too, but, OK point taken, i had my share of lazyness on that one, too... ;) LOL Like I said, man, I only wanted to help, I don't know if your Game is in Need, but I figured it was better to have original songs instead of Remixes... Makes you feel like you have a 100% Original Piece of work... :) I just wanted to make it even more professional, giving my contribute... :) Like I said, if you want me too, I'm totally capable of producing some tracks for your Game, you just give me some details on what you're aiming for, and I take care of it... As for the part of the "song structure" lesson, man, I'm a Producer (I thought I mentioned it in the toppic), so, I DO KNOW how to compose and make a track... That was just a simple piece, to offer my help... :) If you guys want it or not it's up to you now, but It's OK if you don't. ;) Thank you once again for taking the time to listen to it, anyway, and thank you, TwilightDusk, for the criticism! It's cool to know you won't let in the first thing that shows up on your doorstep... That's a good thing! ;) Peace out

The more Pokemon tunes you listen to, the more used you'll get to the style. While it may look pointless, remixing specific tunes is a great way to analyze the song, especially when remixing GB tunes to GBA level (checking what chords are used etc to fill in gaps). Also, one of the projects is the Nostalgia Project: remixing genI/II songs or subtly hiding them in custom songs. If you listen carefully, you'll recognize a theme in Farlgrove Town. Additionally, the Surf music and the upcoming Farlgrove Forest music are remixes, not because we can't compose original songs but to give the player some nostalgia. If you have any other questions then feel free to ask :)

Could you find another file host? 4shared requires users to register in order to download. Mediafire worked fine, so I see no need in switching.

i spend most of my time in the pokemon games in the caves, so i don't realy like repetitive songs in caves, if it gets too repetitive, i just turn off the sound, and then the work they worked so hard on is not heard. I like spending time in the caves, so there might be more people that like it as well

The Wild Battle theme is a good start, although it's missing some important stuff. It sounds too empty at the moment and the dissonance at certain moments make it sound awkward too. The drum also pretty much controls the song. The scheme commonly used for battles, which is 2 bars of intro, 8 bars of theme A and 24 bars of theme B (not sure of the 24, might be 20), is missing too. About the Happy Town theme: again, not bad, but some stuff is missing. It is extremely repetitive in the beginning, which makes it boring. It'd be way more interesting if the actual melody started earlier instead of just raw chords. Again, the drum is too loud for the song. You might want to try to imitate some of the drum sounds with other instruments. Some other drum sounds, such as the clap, are never used in Pokémon, so you should try to not use them.

Hey! Thanks for the critics! You know, I use a Standard DAW, that uses MIDI Audio as an "extra" feature... Because the Software is mainly used to produce music with VST's and Stuff, so... What Software would you recomend me? Because mine has a Drums feature, but it's with realistic drums, not the things you are looking for... Anyway, I'm trying to make the songs to match the ones in Pokemon Black, and I'm starting to realise that maybe you guys are looking for something more Pokemon R/S/E... ;) I admit, most of my songs are repetitive, but if you want, and know how, feel free to change the songs starting from my Ideas... ;) I won't mind! ;) LOL As for the volumes, I pushed'em up so I could hear them in the actual midi file, because it sounded too Low, in the final file... Other Thing: The Real songs I produced, were with Chorus & Reverb in the Master channel, but I can't seem to Render that effect in the midi file... I guess you just can't... Thanks

You can add chorus and reverb, although you have to manually write down the effects, and you thus can't check a box to make it happen automatically. And yes, PT is looking for RSE songs, mainly because the game is based off gen III and the sounds from genV (maybe IV too) use some sort of VSTs.

Do you know how to do it? I never produced any MIDI files before these... But I do wanna learn, so I can make better music... ;) Also, what Software do you use? Is there any way to get another MIDI "client" than GS Wavetable Synth? (or whatever it is called, that one that comes with Windows...) And, I made a "Remix" of Littleroot's Theme and one or two new songs... I'm going to upload them...

I use Sibelius because I find it easier to have a full sheet of the score, and I also find it easy to use, especially when I write the drum sheets (yes I write them myself, don't ever make a generator mak drum sheets for you in a Pokemon song), although Game Fortress uses Jazz Midi Notator. Also, this is somewhat I wrote a long time ago, but it shows the way a Pokemon battle is somewhat supposed to be pretty well.

Sibelius is a bit Big for My Internet Connection LOL I Can't buy it either, so, I'll just Stick to my FL Studio... :P I have 3 new songs, one is my first attempt at "remaking" a official Pokemon Song, it's not like the original one, but I got it without even hearing the original, I just love that song xD It's Littleroot's Theme... Here: http://www.mediafire.com/?ae41e9l87837d6o And the two others, are Original... One, could be for a Town, for Surf, whatever, I have no idea of what that song reminds me of... :P http://www.mediafire.com/?94mz9hv3o3w79a1 The other one, it's Like a Rocket's Battle song, I Like it! It's the Last one I made so far... ;) Here: http://www.mediafire.com/?fs2ytplrgfy1glp Tell me what you think... ;)

Again, the drum controls the song in Littleroot. Apart from that, I hear quite some instruments playing the main theme, but no bass. The Town theme is much better in the fact the drum is less dominant. It is pretty repetitive though. This'd sound pretty good when played in real life, but doesn't really feel like video game music. The Rocket music is a good beginning, but like some of your other songs, it sounds rather empty. The drum is also better than before. If you add some more stuff like chords or a stronger bass, it'd sound much better for sure. Apart from that, it sounds too plain for a battle theme. You're improving though, so don't think you aren't :)
