| well tbh more people hate it then like it.
only gen1 gen2 and gen3 sorta (mainly blaziken) were the good fire starters, cos they looked cool as they always should. and then in gen 4 and gen 5 they replace it with a monkey and an anthromorphic pig.
just my two cents. |

| The starters failed in gen 4 completely. The grass type was the only fairly good one. In gen 5, the fire one's 2nd and 3rd evos are rubbish and the 1st evo is alright. The 1st and 2nd water starter evos are horrible, but the 3rd is awesome. The grass one is alright in general.

| Yeah, who wouldn't want a stupid fish that turns into a monster at a fairly early level? In FR/LG, when you have the option of buying a magicarp off the con-man in the Pokemon Center at the base of mt. Moon, I bought it. It was a stupid decision at first, but I was able to evolve it by the time I got to the third gym, and it was invincible after that :D
And I'm maintaining my opinion that most of the gen. 5 Pokemon are good. The only generation of Pokemon that I didn't like as a whole was the 4th one, and even that had some cool designs.

| Gen. 1 and 2 were my favorites overall, but that doesn't mean that the others aren't also good. |

| Its generally agreed among almost every pokemon fan that the first three sets of starters were the best piplup was decent turtwig was the best one but they completely failed with the monkey they already hd several monkeys before and I don't think they needed another one much less an ugly one that's half fighting which is the exact type combination the last fire starter had. as for the fifth gen starters the grass one seems to be the only one that stays awesome throughout it's evolution the water starter is debatable since it turns into a pool toy the fire starter on the other hand is downright horrible a pig design had so much potential as it hasn't been used before but they went and messed it up by making it bipedal.
And I don't get every single person's obsession with fire type it seems like every other new guy we get on the forum says the fire starter is best and fire type is the best type ever never mind that all starters are evenly balanced to kick each other's ass. It seems most people who like fire tend towards a brute force attack instead of strategizing with type advantages.

| Yeah, I've heard loads of people saying they'll pick the pig because "they always pick fire".
What's wrong with a change? I pick whichever's best. |

| screw you!
I pick fire!
but for once I don't think I will pick the little piggy, I mean it ends up as some anthromorphic fiery pig wrestler! who the hell wants that!?
I for once will pick grass (I did in SS too only cos I could trade myself eggs of the other too, and the grass one is the weakest of the three with fire as the strongest)
grass is actually the best in B/W which is odd for a pokemon game.
like bulbasuar is cool, but squirtle is cooler (he wears sunnys after all) and charmander is the best.
chikorita is wow, but totodile is WOWer (it's a crocodile after all) and cyndaquil rules cos it's deceitful.
treecko is awesome, but mudkipz is awesomer (it's mudkip! need I say more?) and torchic obviously is the best.
but gen 4 and 5 is where the water starter is s***, and gen 5 specifically is where the fire starter is even s***tier than the water starter.
some of you may argue you like the gen 5 water starter but it's too inconsistent and doesn't fit in as a starter pokemon. |

| I don't see where the argument that the pig's anthropomorphic even comes into play. For those of you who haven't already noticed, most of the starter Pokemon throughout all the seasons are bipedal when the animal they're based on isn't. Examples: Squirtle, Cyndaquil, Totadile, Swampert and Blaziken's debatable because although roosters only have two legs, they don't have arms. So I can understand not liking the pig, but anthropomorphism shouldn't have anything to do with it. |

| anthromorphic means having human features, the fact that it can stand on two legs and has human-like posture (obviously in it's third evo) justifies it as an anthromorph (seeing as pigs can only stand on four legs [if this confuses you, try to imagine and anthromporphic dog? brian off of family guy is a good example]) |

| No, I know what anthropomorphic is. I'm confused because you seem to think that the pig is the only Pokemon to ever be anthropomorphic. There were lots of them in the first two seasons alone. I already made a list of other starters that are considered cool and also anthropomorphic, but I'm not sure if you even saw my previous post. |
