| Nice stuff, bro, as I said, the Legendary cat looks better :)
Also, good luck trying to mess around with the Typings, but I think you shouldn't be giving Dragon-Types any weakness that already exists... If you have to, make them vulnerable to Light, but not an existing type, IMO... ;)
Keep it up!

| Here's two more pictures for you guys ^_^ One of them is alternate art of an existing monster, while the other is a brand new Fakemon What I'm going to do is put their scans here and put the inked art on the main thread:
EDIT: In addition, I also made some color changes for the Amethyst Cat that take place temporarily when using certain elemental attacks. Since it's just a minor thing and the actual art didn't change, I placed them under the "Other" tag. Check them out when you get a chance
@Darih: I know we already talked about the type rebalances on the shoutbox, but Dragons having a weakness to Light instead of Steel has a possibility of occuring if I can't balance Steels properly, although it's something I'd prefer to avoid if I can. And thanks again for the tips on the Amethyst Cat's crystals, they look much better than how I colored them before
EDIT #2: You may have heard about me rebalancing types or other mechanics, and the first of the articles on the subject is done. This article talks about changes to the EV system. While they don't affect how EVs work directly, they make EV training much easier to use. I've put it on the front page on my second post, but I'm going to post it here as well just for those people who don't feel like looking there:
Do you like how the current EV system is being utilized in the main Pokemon games? While I enjoy the actual presence of EVs, I feel that the way they are presented and handled could be improved.
For the uninitiated, what exactly are EVs? Well to put it in a basic way, they influence the growth of your Pokemon's stats. Each stat can gain EVs, and when 4 EVs are gained in one stat, the Pokemon will gain an additional stat point in that area. It's very similar to gaining a piece of heart in a Zelda game (Unless you're playing Twilight Princess 510 EVs can be gained on a single Pokemon, but only 255 EVs can be gained in one stat. EVs are in the real Pokemon games as well, so if you want to know more about how they work, you can read one of many well-written articles on them I recommend reading this one, which was written by a friend of mine:
The Layman's Guide to EVs by Aeres116699
My biggest problem with EV training is that once Pokemon gain EVs, they are difficult to get rid of. The only way to erase EVs from a Pokemon is to use the stat reducing berries such as the Pomeg and Grepa berries. If someone puts EVs in an area (accidential or not) and wants to change them, they have to go through a laborous process. I feel that this is not necessary, and could be handled better. Under my new system, the 510 EV limit will not exist in its current form, and will be replaced by a limit of 1530. Where did I get that number from? Because each stat can have a maximum of 255, the maximum number of EVs that could be obtainable is 255 x 6, which equals 1530. But I'm not going to allow Pokemon to have 255 EVs in all of their stats. The limit for the number of EVs that can be applied will still be 510, but instead of Pokemon being unable to gain any more EVs after that limit has been reached, additional EVs will be stored away elsewhere, essentially inert. These EVs can be swapped out with with the EVs currently being applied to a Pokemon at any time in the overworld by accessing a special menu which would be unlocked towards the end of the game. Under this system, if a Pokemon had an EV spread of 252 HP/252 Attack/4 Speed and wanted to put 100 of those Attack EVs in Sp.A instead, they can just take off 100 Attack EVs from the Pokemon, and if they have 100 Sp.A EVs in storage, use those to reach the limit instead. This makes EV training less stressful because EVs can be adjusted freely without the need to farm for berries that take off a small amount of EVs at a time.
What would this look like as a menu? Well, I've taken the liberty of drawing an example of what a menu could look like for this feature:
In case you were wondering what the "Set EV Priorities" option is supposed to be, it's an add-on to this system I made that makes EV training even easier. All Pokemon initially start off with all stats designated as "Priority", which tells the game to automatically assign the first 510 EVs gained. If you take certain stats off of Priority, then the game will put any EVs gained for this Pokemon in storage immediately. This feature simply saves time if one was trying to EV train a Pokemon in certain stats, because they would automatically be applied instead of having to take off some random EVs gained if you defeat a Pokemon you didn't mean to.
To make this bombardment of EV training information easier to comprehend, there will be pre-assigned spreads available on the menu when clicking the "Reconfigure EV spread" option. Many of these spreads will be the standard and reliable spreads that make up competitive battling, and they will have names that match what they do. For example, the "Beserker" spread will give you 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Def, while the "Mage Power" spread will give 4 HP/252 Sp.A/252 Spe. For the player that doesn't like these extreme spreads, there will be a well-rounded spread that sets all EVs to 85 each. If there aren't enough EVs to make this exact spread, the game will pull from other EV pools until the 510 limit is reached, but certain stats will have priority over others in these spreads. So the Beserker spread won't assign Sp.A EVs unless all other pools are depleted. The inclusion of this feature will allow the player to get familiar with how the EV system works, as well as giving them examples of options avaliable. Once they get familiar with how it works, they can feel comfortable making custom spreads.
The benefits of this system are that it allows me to show the player the game's complex EV system in a user-friendly way. This allows more people to play the game skillfully and makes competitive battling that much easier to get into. In addition, Pokemon will be more flexible, being able to switch from offensive to defensive sets on the fly, especially when being able to swap movesets in a similar system I made (but that's for later ) Competitive players will no longer have to complain about "messing up EVs" when going for specific spreads. And finally, this allows me to make the game a little more challenging, since this allows advanced enemy trainers to have EV trained Pokemon as well.
The inclusion of EVs, IVs, Natures, and other factors makes the game of Pokemon very deep and entertaining to learn and study. I feel that Pokemon needs to put more of their information out into the open, instead of pushing these mechanics into the background. Even if they take some time to learn, it's far superior then making vague hints or just pretending they don't exist. A user-friendly interface and in-game advise can make all but the most stubborn trainers able to master the game's mechanics.
EDIT #3: I must have scared everybody off with me rambling on about some EeVee nonsense, 'cause nobody posted Anyway, I've drawn up a picture which is basically my first scene. This picture was partially inspired by NIAJABOY's thread (check it out when you get the chance) I've put a lot of effort into it since this is my first time trying this, so let me know what you think about it. I've put it on the main page under "Other", and I will put it here in a spoiler box here as well:
I've also gone ahead and put some preliminary information for names of locations under the spliler box for the Pandine Region. It's just names, and doesn't give descriptions (since they're in bullet point form at the moment), nor are they completed, but I went ahead and added it anyway. Take a look if you're curious...

| I've putting up some more Fakemon art I had these done towards the end of last week, but I held them back to see if I could develop another idea, but I need more time so these'll have to do Two of them are new, while one is a redesign of Shamurk. However, one of them is simply the outline because I plan to touch up on the lines a bit, but I'm just going to put it up anyway because the concept is done. You guys can check out the new Fakemon on the thread, and I'll put the old Shamurk picture here for reference:
EDIT: I've also changed Shamurk's typing from Water to Water/Dark - it was always going to have the type, but it was previously reserved for its evolution. And I've also written Dex entries for these 'mons I still need to upload all of the new Dex entries for the older Pokemon that LaserStar made - I have them on my phone, but I still have to write them down into a proper form. |

I like the new color and design of the new Sharmurk! It does look like it should
be dark type as well now... anyway on the old one I noticed the tail, was it
suppose to look similar to a tail of a Girrafarig? In the way that it's tail looks
like another head? I dunno, but on the old one that's what I got out of its tail! :)

| I've put up a bunch of stuff for you guys First up, I've created a repose, a revamp, and a redesign - each action for a different Fakemon. Gleeseed got the new design, while I redid Gleetree's artwork in an improved style and reposed Teapoe just because I could I'll post the sketches for Teapoe and Gleetree in a spoiler box - I never uploaded one for Gleeseed because I had altered the lineart after scanning. You can see all of the finished artwork on the main page. So, here you go:
I've also gone ahead and wrote two 'Dex entries for each of them So that's three off of my to-do list XD I also went ahead and wrote Base Stats for Gleeseed and Gleetree, and gave Gleeseed a new ability.
Finally, I added a section on my second post for new moves THe list is a major work in progress, but at least you guys get to see the Gym Leader TMs for the first three Gyms. Let me know what you think about them if you have anything to say. I'll be sure to add a lot more moves sometime.

Alright, thanks for your input ^_^ For the old Shamurk, I didn't originally design it with two heads, but while I was coloring the tail, I thought it would be cool, but I wasn't sure if I should. So I kinda compromised and just made the tail look as if it did. It's really stupid, but I guess it was a good stepping stone to what I have now.
EDIT: I believe that I forgot to put the put the pictures of the old Gleeseed and Gleetree for reference, so I'll put them in a spoiler box below:

| Hey guys Hope you're all enjoying the new year so far ^_^ I've updated my thread with a bit of new content for you all
First of all, I've created a new article and put it in the second post. Similar to the first one, it focuses on an aspect of the Pokemon games and what can be done to improve them. In this instance, it features the badge system implemented within various games. To summarize, my idea is to have badges that filter out weak Pokemon, so not only do stronger trainers encounter higher leveled Pokemon, but weaker trainers are protected from dangerous Pokemon since they now have a way to identify how strong a trainer is. It also features artwork made by Darih, so if you're interested, check it out! I'll be making a series of articles like this, which I'm calling "Altering Pokemon Mechanics", so look forward to more of those in the future
I haven't been able to finish as many Fakemon as I wanted, and many of them aren't completed enough for me to show them off yet, so this update will be pretty empty in terms of new Fakemon. However, I did finish a repose of Mynami showing off its new tail, so you can check that out if you're interested. It's in a spoiler box underneath the original pic, but I'll also make one here to make it easy
This brings me to my final topic. I've noticed that Photobucket has updated their site, and this update also lets me post my pictures in a larger size. This is pretty great, since I can finish my revamped Pokemon type chart that I've been holding back on (maybe I can write another article about that one ^_^), but i'm not sold on enlarged Fakemon pictures yet. I always wanted them to be a little bigger, but they really do stand out compared to the old size. What I'm going to do is post examples of the old and new size, and any of you guys that have an opinion can tell me them in this thread You can also see the enlarged size with the reposed Mynami pic, since I noticed the changes when I made some small edits to the picture. Anyway, here are some examples - in a spoiler box of course due to size:
That's all for now. Hopefully, I can finish some new Fakemon pictures, revamp a couple of old designs, and maybe throw another article or two on top |

| Hey!
Nice work keeping the house clean! :P I like the way you're organising stuff 'round here... :)
I already commented on your legendary cat, but I'll repeat myself here, saying I'd go with the other one, cuz this one is pretty much the same with a thicker tail (that I am not very fond of). LOL
About the Improving Mechanics matter, I like your ideias for the badges, and I just thought of something, so your badges dont have to be altered to be functional.
Think:
Eight badges, each one filters the weak pokemon behind his limit, right? that's your Ideia.
So, if you made like, an electronic case for it, or even a separate item, (that is given to you since the start of your quest), to actually change the parameters as you like. Like a "Badge Manager", an electronic device, something small, that can pretty much turn on and off those filters, when you want and where you want. :)
Just thought of that, give it a thought you too, and if you want, go ahead and use the ideia... :)
Also, about the sizes, I'd rather have them the original size... It's big enough and the "expanded" version brings out the pixelation of the thing, actually... And I think it kinda messes up the colors (or is it me? O.o)
Keep up the good work, and see you next time! :) |

| I've updated the thread again, although I hadn't planned on doing so earlier. When I saw the new starters for Pokemon X and Y this morning, I suddenly felt the urge to draw them myself, so that's what I ended up doing I decided to not color them in the end, as I actually liked them better without it. Since they are not related to the Fakemon I make, I've put them in the 'Other' category, which I've now left expanded since I added something new to it. Let me know what you guys think of them And if any of you guys really feel like coloring or editing them or something, feel free ^_^ I'm still working on more content to show to you guys, so check back in a few days
EDIT: @Darih: I also felt that the original picture of Mynami was better, so I'll be sticking to that design. I'm still gonna leave the other one up for now though, since it's the only new picture I have uploaded at the moment. Also, I really like your idea for the badge case It makes a lot of sense, and it just makes the badge system more convenient. I'll write a mini-section about that later and incorporate it into the badge article. So thanks for your suggestion And I also agree about the sizes, which is why the newer pics aren't enlarged. I'll most likely keep them at their standard size, unless there's someone that really loves the new size for some reason.
EDIT #2: I decided to color the Gen VI starters anyway, so I've replaced the lineart of them with the colored work My reasoning for doing so is that I don't want to update it after 12:00, because the goal of this was to make pictures of the starters on the day they came out. Because of this, I just decided to finish it up so I won't have to leave it uncolored in the future. Since they aren't Fakemon, I won't put the final product in this post, but since I don't have anywhere else to put this because of the update, I'll just place the lineart of all three starters in a spoiler box unseparated. Additionally, the fact that I won't be editing them also made me change Fennekin's expression when I colored it in to make it more neutral, but both pictures are on the front page so it's nothing to worry about. I was trying to go for a vain look before I edited it, but I do like both of them about the same. Let me know what you guys think about them if you're interested Anyway, the spoiler box of the Gen VI starter lineart will be below:

| I've got two more Fakemon art for you guys (that was quick, huh? ) One of them is a repose, while the other is its evolution, which hasn't been seen before. I've already put them up on the front page, and the spoiler boxes that they are in are left open to make them easier to find I'll also put them down below at the end of this post though. Additionally, I've gone ahead and made Pokedex entries for them as well (although I haven't done abilities). I do have to say that I'm not sure whether the second form is actually needed, since the final form is close enough to the first and I already have two other cocoon 'mons. If you guys think that its cool enough to stay, please let me know Anyway, I'll put them in a spoiler box:
Also, I've removed Teapoe's older artwork from the front page, so as always, I'll put it in a spoiler box for reference:
@Pazaza: No, Froakie's water - it's not like your tree frog starter idea
@ Flashzz: Thanks ^_^ I do like the Gen 6 starters, but I really wanna see what the evolutions will be. Although looking back, I think I had Fennekin's back ear at the wrong perspective, but I'm not gonna bother to fix it XD
EDIT: Forgot to leave the original Torblaze picture here for future reference, so I'll do that now:

| I've finally updated the thread I've been gradually adding things without updating so I could finish more things on my list of ideas. First of all, I've finished a repose of Polia, and updated its 'Dex description to match. Additionally, I went ahead and redid the Grass Starter. Even though I personally don't like it to the extent to replace the old one, I think that I've made some changes that will help me finalize the design in the future. Additionally, I've decided that I'll keep the original picture of Mynami, so I removed the alternate art from the front page - if you want to see it, scroll up a few posts to see the picture in a spoiler box.
I've also been trying my hand at another scene for the past week, and I can't think of much to change at this point so I'm probably done I'll be creating a section for pictures like this which I've entitled Zephair's Travels. I'm also trying to make a little logo for it, but that'll take a little while so I'm not worrying about that too much right now. Anyway, I've added it to the top of the "Other" section, and incorporated the previous scene into it as well. I'll also make it easier and post the scene here:
Also, I've written yet another article, although this one is really short. This one is based on the repercussions of losing a battle and what could be done to lessen the impact and make it more bearable. This one doesn't have a picture yet (I'm still working on it), but I'll update the post with that when it's complete. I'll put it in a spoiler box as always:
Despite the fact that for every winner, there must be a loser, isn't it humiliating to lose a Pokemon battle in the real games? One simple loss means having to run back to the nearest Pokemon Center while desperately avoiding wild Pokemon in the area, losing a large chunk of your cash and still having to fight the trainer you just lost to in the future. It's no surprise that many people who lose a battle cut their games off to escape the penalties. While there is no practical way to guarantee people won't quit a game to avoid losing, there are ways to make it more tolerable.
A key issue is the fact that you lose your progress. If you were traveling through a route and lost to a random trainer, you'd have to travel back through the route since the game automatically takes you to the Pokemon Center. Additionally, losing to a stationary trainer, like a Gym Leader, is annoying because not only do you lose money (which is silly when you think about it), but you lose any items you spent trying to defeat them. Even if your Pokemon gain a bit of EXP in the struggle, the end result essentially leaves you weaker then before you started. One idea that could help trainers is to create a healing item, that while expensive, would allow you to heal your entire party automatically after having all of your Pokemon faint. Not only does this save you time, but losing becomes more acceptable since you don't have to deal with any annoying obstacles you had to get over. Of course, healing your Pokemon with traditional items is preferred, since it'll be cheaper and is more practical than purposely losing, but it can be used as a backup, especially if a trainer believes that their Pokemon are a bit underleveled. Thus, the backup healing kit can be purchased if the trainer is going to head into a long and dangerous area, since it'll make traveling easier. However, only one healing kit can be carried at a time, to prevent abuse.
However, this doesn't help early trainers at all, because they wouldn't be able to afford or get the proper use out of the healing kit. Losing to a random trainer most likely wouldn't be too big of a deal, since they lose a smaller amount of money and the distance from a Pokemon Center is shorter. However, losing to a Gym Leader is annoying, because setting pride aside, the resources you used up make it difficult to try again. In order to combat this problem, there should be a system that limits the amount of healing both the trainer and the Gym Leader can do by replacing their bag with set items, increasing by the amount of badges one has. This allows for the battles to be based on the trainer's skill, and not by how large their bags are. Additionally, this makes losing no big deal, since any Potions and Full Heals used didn't come from your wallet. This also makes sense gameplay wise, as the Gym Leader Challenge should have standardized rules that make challenges fair to both parties. Furthermore, Gym Leaders take no money from trainers upon defeat, to reduce the damage caused by losing to almost nothing. However, winning does net the winner some money, although the exact amount depends on the number of badges and doesn't come directly from the Leader themselves. Thus, trainers can use the cash to buy items that will help them adjust to the higher-leveled Pokemon that will appear.
All of these things allows for the player to battle other trainers without having to worry as much about the potential downsides. Since players no longer have to 'white out' when they lose, battling becomes more enjoyable in general, even if the player is low on healing items, Additionally, changing how money is handled within Gyms ensures that every trainer can participate and not have to be crippled by a loss they can't afford. All and all, this system makes the game less frustrating to inexperienced players and makes Gym Leader battles more fair for everyone.
Finally, I'm going to update 'Dex descriptions for all of the Fakemon that appeared in the Forest Lake scene that haven't gotten it already (basically everyone but Gleeseed and Shamurk). I'll update the thread with those in a few hours
QUOTE: Charizard2993 Torblaze looks really cool, what is it exactly?
Even though its final form is based off of a moth, Torblaze's design is inspired from a picture of a spider that I found I'm not really sure if Torblaze really needs the cocoon stage since I have two other bugs that do, but I haven't heard any opinions on the subject. I'll leave it up for debate, although I'm thinking about keeping it anyway. Let me know what you think if you have something to say ^_^ |
